01/08/11 Special Update: SosteNica is currently looking for investors to support an innovative housing cooperative in Juigalpa, Nicaragua. The 30 families in the housing cooperative have been working together for four years to obtain legal status and fundraise to begin building their community hall. They need an investment of $260,000 to begin cooperatively building 30 eco-friendly houses, which SosteNica has commited to providing. From January 2001 through December 2009 SOSTENICA created opportunities for Nicaraguans in the form of 26,489 loans worth $15,064,050. As of February 2010, SOSTENICA had a portfolio of $2,038,971 at work in Nicaragua (see Financial Info for details).
